Prize Postdoctoral Fellowship in Quantum Information & Control

Location
Center for Quantum Information and Quantum Control, University of
Toronto

Closing Date: December 31, 2010.

Salary: Cdn $45,000 - $55,000.

Qualification: Ph.D. in any area of quantum information or control and
demonstrated research ability at the forefront of the field.

Prize postdoctoral fellowships in Quantum Information & Control at the
University of Toronto will be awarded on a competitive basis, to start
before September 2011. Each fellow will have the opportunity to work
within U of T's Center for Quantum Information and Quantum Control
(see http://cqiqc.physics.utoronto.ca for more information), with a
broad and vibrant group of researchers spanning the Departments of
Physics, Chemistry, and Electrical & Computer Engineering. Highly
qualified applicants with a Ph.D. in any area of quantum information
or control will be considered. Applications will be considered either
to work with an existing group in CQIQC or to pursue an independent
research proposal, but preference will be given to applications which
complement present activities in the Center. To apply, please send a
CV (including list of publications(, a 2-page description of your
present research, and a 2-page proposal for your postdoctoral
research; also arrange to have 2-3 letters of reference sent directly
to CQIQC. All application materials must be received by December 31,
2010. Please send to
Anna Ho, CQIQC Administrator, University of Toronto, 80 St. George
Street, Toronto, ON M5S 3H6, Canada; or by email to
aho at chem.utoronto.ca .

Most fellowships will provide 50% salary support, the other half to be
paid by the hosting group. Such fellowships can be used to work with
any Member or Associate of CQIQC who agrees to pay the remaining 50%;
applicants are not required to choose a group before applying,
although in order to accept the fellowship they will have to be able
to identify a group which agrees to hire them. For candidates with an
exceptionally strong research proposal and proven ability at
independent research, there is also the possibility of a full
fellowship, which can be used to work either independently or in
collaboration with existing groups at CQIQC, at the Fellow's
discretion. All Fellows will be expected to carry out their research
at the University of Toronto and to participate in the intellectual
life of the Center.

Closing date
31 Dec 2010
