A reminder that the annual International Women's Day Dinner (link: http://www.iwd.uwaterloo.ca/) takes place one week from today on Thursday, March 4 at the University Club, beginning with a reception from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., followed by a three-course dinner at 5:30 p.m.. Reflecting the theme of women to women: making global connections, guest speaker Carin Holroyd, a professor in the department of political science, will talk about her volunteer work in Vietnam. I thought you'd be interested because of the international and global volunteerism theme; former AVP International Gail Cuthbert Brandt is MC.  Peiyi Nu, a PDT researcher from engineering, will be performing two pieces on the Ehru, a traditional Chinese instrument.  Thanks to a generous anonymous donation, we are also able to host three young women who volunteer with the Waterloo chapter of Engineers without Borders as our guests.

Tickets are $32 and are on sale through Monday, March 1 at the Theatre Centre Box office in Hagey Hall, open noon to 5 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, and by telephone at  ext. 84908. Menu options for gourmet meat and vegetarian meals are listed on the IWD website, along with more details about the program.

If you know of anyone else who would be interested, please pass along this information.
