Dear WiM faculty, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students,

I highly recommend considering participating in the inaugural *Math &
Computing Research Discovery Days
<https://uwaterloo.ca/math-innovation/math-and-computing-research-discovery-days>
*next
spring to both showcase the research excellence of our women+ members and
also for an opportunity to expand your networks.

More details about the event:

On *April 17-18, 2023*, we will be showcasing our research excellence in
the inaugural *Math & Computing Research Discovery Days
<https://uwaterloo.ca/math-innovation/math-and-computing-research-discovery-days>*.
This event aims to raise the Faculty’s profile and facilitate research
collaboration through meaningful engagement with our industry partners. It
is also an opportunity for our graduate students to discuss the impact of
their work with professionals from various sectors, network, and develop
entrepreneurial skills.

Day One will feature academic keynotes from faculty as well as research
spotlights, panel discussions, lightning presentations and posters from
graduate students on three broad themes: Health and Medicine, Security and
Privacy, and Data Integrity and Trust.

Day Two will feature industry keynotes from two of our outstanding
alumni (Steve
Woods <https://ca.linkedin.com/in/stevenwoods> and Kumar Erramilli
<https://ca.linkedin.com/in/kumar-erramilli-17782834>), student posters and
lightning talks, and an entrepreneurship 101 workshop.

The initial feedback on the plans for Research Discovery Days from the Math
community and our external stakeholders has been overwhelmingly positive.
Math is the underpinning of problem solving, and UW Math is world renowned.
I can’t wait to promote the great work you are all doing and hope to see
strong participation from our department.

Best wishes,
