WICI Talk on October 27: Dynamics and control of flexible solar towers | Plus a call from our Complexities in Human-Environment Interactions Working Group

Join us Tuesday, October 27, 2015 for a WICI Talk with Dr. Vakhtang Putkaradze, Centennial Professor of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Alberta.

In his lecture “Dynamics and control of flexible solar towers,” Dr. Putkaradze will discuss the theories behind the creation of an inflatable self-supported solar tower, as well as the results of experiments demonstrating the remarkable stability of the tower in real-life conditions.

A full abstract and link to register for the talk are available on our website: http://wici.ca/new/2015/09/dynamics-and-control-of-flexible-solar-towers/

ALSO – If you are studying any aspect of human-environment interactions, or interested in applying complex systems theory with agent-based modeling (ABM) techniques to your research, please considering joining our Complexities in Human-Environment Interactions Working Group.  The group will be meeting weekly and is open to any graduate/undergraduate/postdocs from a wide range of research fields, including geography, biology, urban planning, transportation system design, economics, computer science, and theoretical physics.
