UWFA First and Second Year Case Competition

The University of Waterloo Finance Association (UWFA) is excited to announce the debut of it's newest event: The UWFA Case Competition! This event will take place on Saturday, March 21st, 2020. The competition will give teams of 1st and 2nd year undergraduate students the opportunity to perform financial analysis on real-life companies to reach an investment decision. They will then have the chance to present their decision to our panel of judges.

COMPETITION STRUCTURE
The competition will be broken into 2 stages. Teams will be placed into different groups and present in the first round, with one team from each group moving to the final round. Teams can consist of 1-3 1st or 2nd year students. There will be a post-competition networking session with the judges. Lunch catered by Chef on Call will also be provided.

THE CASE
Students will work in groups to solve a case which requires them to leverage their knowledge of accounting and financial analysis. All the required information is contained within the case with no external research allowed. Although the case is set at a beginner-level, a basic understanding of financial statements is recommended.

The actual case will be sent to delegates a few days prior to the event.

PRIZES
First Place Team: $500
Second Place Team: $300
Third Place Team: $200
