Call for Applications for CFA Institute Awareness Scholarships - December 2020 exam - Application submission deadline Friday, August 7, 2020, 11:59 pm

As an affiliate in the CFA University Affiliation Program, the School of Accounting and Finance and the Mathematics, Business and Accounting Programs in the Faculty of Mathematics will be recommending students for CFA Awareness scholarships (https://www.cfainstitute.org/programs/cfa/scholarships/student

) for the December 2020 CFA Level I exam.

These scholarships are awarded by the CFA Institute and are primarily available to undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Accounting and Finance and to undergraduate students in the Mathematics/Financial Analysis and Risk Management (FARM) in the Faculty of Mathematics.
BENEFITS:
For the current exam offering, the CFA Program enrollment fee (if applicable) is waived. Scholarship applicants pay a discounted registration fee that includes the e-book curriculum.
Scholarships cannot be deferred to another exam offering.

CRITERIA:

To be considered for these scholarships, you must be:

1. A registered undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Waterloo
2. In your final year of undergraduate studies, defined as being within 12 months of completion of your degree requirements (For example, an undergraduate student in the 4A/4B term in the BAFM program in the 2020-2021 school year is eligible to apply for the scholarship for the December 2020 exam for the CFA Level I exam.)
3. Registered to write or will be registering for the December 2020 CFA Level 1 Exam.

PROCESS:
1.      Complete the application at https://www.cfainstitute.org/programs/cfa/scholarships/student
       In the “Attachments” section of your scholarship application, please attach the following:
a.      CV
b.      Academic Transcript
2.      Email your CV and unofficial transcript to Professors Ranjini Jha (rjha at uwaterloo.ca<mailto:rjha at uwaterloo.ca>) and Brent Matheson (brent.matheson at connect.uwaterloo.ca<mailto:bmatheso at connect.uwaterloo.ca>) by Friday, August 7, 2020 at 11:59 pm.
Students are required to complete the above two steps of the application process. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
Students who are sponsored for the CFA Scholarships will be notified by Professors Ranjini Jha and Brent Matheson by Friday, August 14, 2020.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

1. Do NOT complete your exam registration until you have been informed as to whether or not you received your scholarship award.
2. If you have been successful in your scholarship application you will be notified by the CFA Institute with a link for registration in early September 2020 for the December 2020 exam.
3. Students who applied but were not selected will need to register for the exam once they have received notification, and before the registration deadline (e.g. 9 September 2020 for the December 2020 exam). They will receive the exam registration price that they would have been eligible for at the time they submitted their scholarship application.
When you register for the exam, use the same email that you used when you applied for the scholarship as the system will pick up the date of your scholarship application and charge you the relevant exam fee pertaining to that date.
Please note, The February 2021 Level I CFA Program exam, which is the first computer-based exam for Level I candidates will be administered 23 February — 1 March 2021 and offered in over 400 exam centers around the world. The call for applications for scholarships for the 2021 exams will be sent to students in early September.
