All --

On April 1 and 2 Nancy Leveson from MIT will be visiting
us for her Distinguished Lecture titled ``Computers and Trust'' at
4:30pm on 1 April in DC 1351. See
http://www.cs.uwaterloo.ca/odyssey/event/799 for an abstract.

Dr. Leveson is a pioneer in the area of software system safety and
in fact, wrote THE book on the subject titled
"Safeware: System Safety and Computers".
See her web site, at http://sunnyday.mit.edu/, for more details.

In addition to her Distinguished Lecture, Dr. Leveson will be giving a
mentoring talk for women in CS followed by a discussion. This event will be:

     11:00-1:00 on Thursday, April 2, in MC5136

Lunch will be served. This is a terrific opportunity to learn from
a senior scholar in the field and discuss with her the challenges
faced by women working in the computing field.

If you would like to attend this mentoring talk and lunch, please send
email to nday at cs.uwaterloo.ca by noon on Friday 27 March so that
we can order the right amount of food. This event is open to all
female CS undergrads, grads, staff, and faculty.

I hope to see you there!

thanks, nancy
on behalf of the Women in CS Committee
